Hat-trick of awards for Baker Estates’ Site Managers in prestigious industry awards

A site manager from southwest housebuilder Baker Estates has been crowned a winner of the Seal of Excellence in the regional finals of NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.

Robin Palmer was presented his award in front of an audience of sector peers at a ceremony in Bristol at the end of last year.

Baker Estates’ site managers won two more awards last year. Mike McLeod at Bee Meadow in South Molton and Steve Hobden at Little Cotton Farm, Dartmouth were also honoured with a Pride in the Job accolade last year in recognition of their commitment to quality and impeccable site management.

Organised by the NHBC, the UK’s leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes, the awards are highly regarded in the house building industry. They recognise site managers that are dedicated to achieving the highest standards in house building and those that are committed to building homes of outstanding quality for their customers.

Judging for the awards is rigorous, with each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Robin Palmer, who is the Site Manager at Hayne Farm in Honiton, commented: “I take an enormous amount of pride in every site I work on and see this as very much a team award. I’m absolutely delighted. It’s very satisfying to be recognised by the NHBC in this highly competitive award.”

Graham Hutton, Operations Director at Baker Estates, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and the second year in a row we have won a Seal of Excellence which reflects the standards on a Baker Estates’ new development.

“These awards say a great deal about what we are trying to achieve at Baker Estates. Being included amongst the UK’s top site managers is a testament to our commitment to delivering quality homes for our customers. Pride in the Job is one of the most highly regarded competitions in the house-building industry, and we are delighted for Robin.”

For over four decades, Pride in the Job has underpinned NHBC’s core purpose of supporting the delivery of high-quality homes. By recognising the very best site managers across the UK, showcasing best practice, and rewarding excellence, the competition celebrates the vital role that site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, in a safe environment and to exceptional quality standards.

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive, Steve Wood, said: “A site manager’s role is one of the most challenging in housebuilding and recognising their persistent drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition. Receiving a Seal of Excellence Award is a great achievement for any site manager and placing them at the top of their profession. It’s no surprise that Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of customer satisfaction. The homes being built are amongst the best the UK has to offer.”
