Plans For Homes On Oakwell Care Home Site Given Green Light

Councillors have approved plans for 21 new homes on the former Oakwell care home site in Bickington.

Plans for 21 new homes on the site of the former Oakwell care home in Bickington have been approved.

The proposals by Baker Estates were lodged in June and have been given the green light by North Devon Council.

The plans are set to include two-, three- and four-bedroom homes with gardens and off-street parking.

Ian Baker, managing director of Baker Estates, said: “I’m delighted that North Devon Council has approved our plans to transform this site.

“Before our intervention it faced an uncertain future, but now we can move forward and deliver a quality new development of homes that the local community can be proud of.

“At the heart of the way we do business is a commitment to engaging with local communities and councillors and to working together to deliver homes that everyone can be proud of. I’m particularly pleased that, as with all our planning applications, we have been able to secure permission with the support of Fremington Parish Council.

“We are now looking forward to starting on site before the end of the year.”
