Affordable Homes Boost From Baker Estates And Sovereign At Hayne Farm, Gittisham

Newton Abbot based home builder, Baker Estates has teamed up with Sovereign to deliver the first significant number of affordable new homes in the Honiton area for over a decade.

In the last ten years, only six affordable homes have been built in the area, so the 90 new affordable homes which are guaranteed as part of the Baker Estates’ scheme are very much overdue and welcomed.

The total payments that will be made to the local community for education, highway improvements, public open space and play areas as a result of this development amounts to £1,562,000.

Ian Baker, Managing Director of Baker Estates, commented: “Not only is our development providing much needed affordable homes in Gittisham, the development as a whole, will also create inward investment including jobs for local people. We consulted extensively within Gittisham and Honiton as well as the council to deliver a high quality design which will benefit the whole community.”

Ian added: “We are delighted to have started this exciting partnership with Sovereign and look forward to working with them over the coming years.”

Will Murphy, Development Manager at Sovereign commented: “In an area where there is extremely high demand for affordable housing, it’s great to have worked alongside Baker Estates to deliver the 90 new homes for local people in Honiton. These properties will be a mix of one and two bedroomed apartments and two and three bedroomed houses. These will be made available at affordable rent and shared ownership tenures. We cannot wait to see our first residents move in to their new homes in the spring.”

Baker Estates’ new homes are now available from £265,950  or from £152,500 with Home Reach, for more information please contact 01404 819544 or email [email protected]. To register your interest for a new Sovereign affordable home please contact [email protected] or call 0300777837.
