Baker Estates is celebrating a significant achievement after two of its site managers received one of the house-building industry’s most prestigious accolades at the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.
Steve Hobden and Steve Damerell have both been awarded a Pride in the Job Quality Award, recognising their exceptional commitment to quality housebuilding, site management, and leadership.
Selected from more than 10,000 site managers across the UK, they were recognised in the first round of the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, placing them among the top five per cent of site managers nationwide.
Steve Damerell received the award for his work at Little Orchard, Tavistock, while Steve Hobden was recognised for his stunning site at Little Cotton Farm, Dartmouth.
Graham Hutton, Deputy Managing Director of Baker Estates, said: "We are delighted that both Steves have been selected as Pride in the Job Quality Award winners for their commitment to quality and impeccable site management. Pride in the Job Quality Awards say a great deal about what we are trying to achieve at Baker Estates and why customers buy homes in complete confidence from us as a business."
Commenting on the award, Steve Hobden said: "It’s very satisfying to be recognised by NHBC. I take an enormous amount of pride in every site I work on and see this as very much a team award. Without everyone’s full commitment, support and hard work this award would not have been possible.”
Steve Damerell added: "Being selected as one of the UK’s top site managers is a real honour and Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded award in the house-building industry."
The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are widely regarded as the benchmark for excellence in site management. The judging process is rigorous, with site managers assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
The awards recognise the vital role site managers play in delivering high-quality new homes and maintaining exceptional standards across the house-building industry.
This latest recognition highlights Baker Estates’ continued commitment to excellence, quality of build, and the delivery of outstanding homes and communities across the South West.
