Choosing a bungalow from Baker Estates was plain sailing for Naval couple

Choosing a new build bungalow at Baker Estates’ Meadowbrook development in Callington, was plain sailing for Navy couple Miriam Charlton and Ian Caldwell.

Miriam believes fate had a hand when they visited the collection of contemporary bungalows and homes at the unspoilt rural development, in the Saxon town of Callington. That Saturday back in July did not start well when their appointment to view a new build on another development was cancelled.

It was Ian who persuaded Miriam to head over to Callington and view the newly built bungalows at the Meadowbrook development.  Miriam said: “I did not want to go. I had in my mind set that I wouldn’t like a bungalow and I wasn’t sure about Callington. But how wrong I was and how lucky Ian persuaded me to visit!”

Baker Estates’ Sales Executive Lucy, was there to greet them and accompany the couple on a development tour and view the show home. “I was sold as soon as I got there,” said Miriam.  “Lucy walked us around the available homes and then we couldn’t believe it when our favourite home – The Holly - had just become available again.”

The couple now lives in their three-bedroom Holly chalet bungalow and are delighted with the amount of space and the cleverly designed layout. They have a stunning, high-quality kitchen with integrated appliances and plenty of room to entertain guests in the open plan kitchen/dining area.

As well as having an en-suite bedroom on the ground floor, in addition to a cloakroom, the first floor offers two further well-proportioned bedrooms and another luxurious bathroom. Their home has been well and truly future proofed for later living.

The setting of their new home at Meadowbrook, the carefully positioned surrounding properties, the beautiful landscaped open green spaces and the rural views are features that both Miriam and Ian feel makes the new development so special.

Miriam said: “We just get such a lovely feeling and sense of calm when we approach Meadowbrook, the roads have been designed to feel open and they’re not dominated by cars like other new schemes we viewed.

“We have such nice neighbours, but the properties are all so well positioned that you feel completely private but still part of a residential community,” added Ian.

He added: “Baker Estates deserve all the praise we can give.  Lucy and Karin were fantastic throughout the entire process and particularly helpful when it came to dealing with our solicitor and sorting out delays.”

“We couldn’t fault the service the onsite team have given us. The standard of workmanship, attention to detail and the quality of every aspect of the build inside and out is excellent,” commented Miriam.

Unsurprisingly the happy couple have no intention of moving again.  Ian is content to follow his passion for photography, as he is surrounded by wildlife, nature and glorious countryside, Meadowbrook is the perfect place for this.  Miriam is a keen golfer and a fitness fanatic, so having a new place and historic town like Callington to discover on foot is a joy.

Liskeard, Saltash and Plymouth are all within 30 minutes by car and the picturesque Tamar Valley is only six miles away.

Annie Williams, head of sales at Baker Estates, said: “It just goes to show that it’s only when you actually visit a development like Meadowbrook - see and experience it first hand, that you know if it feels like the home and a place for you. It’s very gratifying when customers like Miriam and Ian appreciate the thought and effort that we put into designing our developments.”
