Baker Estates turkey donation to help feed families in Newton Abbot this Christmas

Twenty-four families in Newton Abbot are now going to have a more festive Christmas thanks to Baker Estates.

The award winning south west housebuilder has donated 24 fresh turkeys to Teignbridge Homeless Action Today (THAT), a registered charity based in Buckland, Newton Abbot. THAT gives financially struggling families and individuals food items, toiletries, and home start packs.

This Christmas, THAT is putting together 60 bags which include essential items and Christmas goodies for each family. Chocolates, biscuits, and turkeys alongside many more items will be delivered to local families with children to enjoy on Christmas Day.

Ian Baker, Managing Director of Baker Estates, said: “We know that there are families struggling to make ends meet, and the situation this year has only made things a lot worse. We hope these special Christmas packs will mean families can enjoy a more festive, happy Christmas with their loved ones.”

Lin Waldridge from THAT, commented: “We cannot thank Baker Estates enough. It’s a lovely gesture which will go down very well by everyone receiving a turkey and the Christmas goodies. The items have been kindly donated by so many different organisations and community members.”

Lin added: “We have been overwhelmed with generosity of local people, schools and churches who are very aware of people in difficult situations. One family, who want to remain nameless, donate a large shopping trolley full of food every week to us. We also have a fabulous team of volunteers who work hard to distribute food to the community.”
