Baker Estates score a hat-trick of Pride in the Job awards

Three site managers from award winning south west housebuilder Baker Estates have been given one of the highest accolades in their industry. Bob Mitchell, Brian Kelly and Robin Palmer have won Pride in the Job Quality awards from the NHBC.

The competition is dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the very highest standards in house building. From a field of more than 11,000, 450 UK site managers have won a Quality Award in the first round of NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards 2020, representing the top four percent of those who entered.

Ian Baker, managing director at Baker Estates, said: “Being selected as one of the UK’s top site managers is a testament to their commitment to delivering quality homes for our customers. Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry, and we are delighted for Bob, Brian and Robin.”

Bob Mitchell, who is the site manager at Baker Estates’ development, The View, in Malborough, has won the award before. Bob added: “It’s very satisfying to be recognised by NHBC.

I take an enormous amount of pride in every site I work on and see this as very much a team award.”

Judging for the Awards is rigorous, the current competition began in July 2019, with each site manager assessed across six key areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive Steve Wood said: “Pride in the Job has been pivotal in improving the quality of new homes so it’s fantastic to be able to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Despite the numerous challenges the industry has faced in recent times, the very best site managers of 2020 have kept their focus on delivering high quality new homes for their customers.”

“At NHBC we are very proud of Pride in the Job, what it stands for and the impact it has had and continues to have across the sector. “As our new research shows, it’s no surprise that Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of homeowner satisfaction as these homes are without doubt among the best the country has to offer.
